That's what I'm here for: the belated social niceties.
Okay so JAMJAR IT IS. I'm in favour of a survival jamjar so they're in a simple, limited space with some communal goal like 'don't get eaten by the [insert monster/animal/demon hordes here] whilst protecting the city/tower/moon crystal/princess' because that forces teeth-gritted fist-clenched teamwork...... I mean we could also try something further out like pirate ship jamjar or space jamjar or idek superhero city jamjar but there's probably a limit to what they'll accept before it stops being about the characters and starts being about how confused we can make them??
okay i'm going to track this post so i don't miss another reply like i just almost did again.
AND YES. I know how that goes. Asking gets awkward if it doesn't come up, cough. On that topic, I don't know if I know yours yet.
I'd be cool with a survival setting to start off with. Maybe a sort of castle defense thing? If they're all familiar with the territory (since they've all either been in or besieged castles) that could give them more room to try and have to get along as they're trying to fight off whatever's getting in. Alternately, having to work together to figure out a new setting would be a similar kind of trick.
That being said, confusing the hell out of them is always a good thing. They're too serious for their own good most of the time.
also did you play altair in mlj. was he adorably angry all the time.
I'd expect Templars to forget to introduce themselves. uwu This is why you always lose.
Ahem. Castle defense sounds excellent. (so many snide comments to be made) For confusion's sake we could have it be a different kind of base than a medieval castle, but if we assume they've been there for about a week already then they'd have had time to familiarise themselves with the layout so it won't impact beyond 'why are we in [a japanese fortress/an alien base/a skycity]'. Also a week is about as long as you can get before you run into each other during a chaotic attack or a council meeting or sth.
I did not, alas, but he got stuck in the stomach of a dragon with Rarity recently does that count
...you know I always thought "well my name is right on the journal's app if anyone goes looking" but IT IS NOT. Wow. I feel like my entire worldview has jut shifted fundamentally, everything I knew is a lie. Anyway hi I'm Jaina.
I like the castle idea, and possibly it could be a defense against non-humans? Or humans and non-humans, but the idea is they have to work together (along with any npcs we want) but the lack of traditional army throws them off-balance too.
Snide comments are an absolute requirement.
Elle we should probably decide canon points for the wonder couple.
If it makes you feel better, I didn't even think to check. Which would have been a straightforward and simple answer and yet I missed it completely. HI.
That all works for me. Maybe against supernatural elements if it's a castle setting - something LOTR style, or ghostly. Or dragons, because I can never not suggest dragons. Possessed humans possibly?
It'll be an endless series of snide one-liners until someone gets a sword in the gut.
yes that counts and sounds hilarious. with rarity of all people
I swear this is Elle I'm just too lazy to switch out of meme tagging mode.
Now all I can imagine is them being trapped in Minas Tirith fighting the hordes of Mordor because look at all those tiered city levels you could jump off as a shortcut. Plus it has undead, dragons, possession, copious numbers of orcs and goblins...
I have the utmost faith in all three that they could continue delivering snide one-liners well after taking a sword to the stomach.
Rarity is best pony except when she freaks out because you're checking if the tiny horse is alive.
oh god canon points uhhh. I mean I can and will play douchetair if that is what is desired but that version doesn't have a particularly long lifespan. YOU PICK..?
Pardon my delighted Basara shrieking here for a second you play tsuruhime screams i can never find basara people. this is the best day.
Maybe we could roll with that then. Or at least a really similar setup - it might work if we have that to base it off of. Plus them versus the endless armies of Sauron 2.0 gives plenty of opportunities for grudging cooperation.
That's a good point. I keep forgetting this is the canon with the long, drawn-out conversation with people who just took a wristblade to the throat.
Whatever canonpoints you guys want to go with are fine by me, too - Robert will be post-throatstab on the grounds that it makes things the most interesting.
CAN IT BE THAT WE WERE FATED TO BE BASARA FRIENDS.
JSYK Robert's side-eyeing in your icon is making me feel guilty by proxy. I'm sorry for making Altair wristblade you in the jugular. (Except I'm not because that fight beforehand is the actual worst and I just wanted it to be over.)
If all else fails we can imagine that Gandalf The NPC showed up, knocked their heads together and stormed away again shouting I WILL NOT HAVE YOUR PETTY FIGHTS WITHIN THESE WALLS
OH MAN I HOPE SO I've got a Mitsunari and a Magoichi on hand if you ever want to run shenanigans sometime.
Never feel guilt. After that fight it was a public service. (But here's an icon of him being even more accusatory anyway because he's always still blasted about it.)
Picturing that is both really really easy and really funny, so I'm entirely in support of something like that having happened and that's what started their grudging truce. Or at least started it on Robert's side of things.
I play the most emotionally competent characters in all of Basara, I agree. And I will take all of your offerings and run with them, forever, if you want to try a thing just throw me a PM, I think Tsuruhime and Magoichi would be ten kinds of adorable, maybe a meme somewhere
-- how many altairs is a templar supposed to put up with Though I laughed when I checked my e-mail and had notifs from both Actual Urban Fantasy Heroine AND Angry Wikipedia Editor Altair. Afternoon improved greatly.
AHA yes sorry I did run off into derailing territory a bit. I am Basara'd at the moment. But also AssCreed'd! I think if you have your canon points worked out we could probably just roll right into a post, starting just pre-battle as they all glower at each other for varying reasons.
also here, you can both have this icon, which is clearly the best icon.
JUST TELL US THAT EITHER OF THOSE NAMES ARE INACCURATE. THAT'S RIGHT, YOU CAN'T.
Sigh that was not his finest hour. Altaïr's, I mean. It was pretty good for Robert.
I think my only question left is 1) have they already met 2) what did they learn about each other if so (let's face it that mostly goes for what Robert learned about them) and 3) who gets the most glares, Maria for having atrocious taste or Altaïr for stealing his steward?
It's always a note of a good game when the first 20 minutes makes me laugh because someone got smacked in the face. (see also: why ac3 made me start dragging cross through every musebox i have)
I'd say 1) probably yes, insofar that someone told them to nut up and shut up about their petty angry squabbles 2) I'll leave that up to you guys though if Robert knew the two of them were involved and both Assasins it would push things along quicker, I think and 3) both. They both get the most glares. Though Altair gets the burden of his animosity because you take his life AND his best soldier? Unforgivable.
IM GETTING CONFUSED BECAUSE WE HAVE THE SAME ICONS jai why are you doing this to my poor brain
anyway. In that case I propose that they've met, had one blistering argument-turned-fight then been sent to various naughty corners by the Gandalf Expy, been dragged OUT of those corners when a battle starts and 'what are you doing over there come kill orcs' after which there's a tentative and highly sullen truce punctuated by occasional snide encounters in the mess hall bc nothing's actually been sorted beyond "i killed you" "it didn't stick"/"i'm an assassin" "you're fucking fired is what you are" but after that initial attack it's been pretty quiet and they're getting really good at being ships passing in the night-
AND WHERE WE AGAIN ENCOUNTER OUR ERSTWHILE HEROES, THE FORCES OF EVIL HAVE INFILTRATED THE FIRST RING AND CORRUPTED A DISTRICT OF CIVILIANS AND GUARDS whilst all three were in that district on leave or sth so they had to band together to survive the Mordor Zombie Attack and here we are. They're all tired and probably more than a little bloody and everything's only just stopped being on fire and screaming.
I like all of this but have (possibly) one final question: does Robert realize that in addition to bring a turncoat, Maria is doing the do with his killer? Because I feel like that could be funny if he hasn't but I don't want to dumb him down if he would grok that.
also I've been playing a lot of Dragon Age lately and I'm totally seeing them fighting Darkspawn and Maria earning and losing approval points through conversation.
This all works for me too and actually I'm not sure if he'd assume that right off the bat - he'd probably initially assume that she just fell under the sway of Assassin lies and falsehoods and her allegiances shifted, not that they're Actually Involved. If that came up right after they get done running like hell it'd probably be all kinds of hilarious. I.E., one of them gets close to the other to check on injuries and it's a moment of tenderness and he takes one look and goes OH HELL NO or something similar.
That thought amuses me. Asscreed could actually stand to gain something through an approval system honestly.
yes totally one should come up eventually i will keep a close eye on bakerstreet. I HAVEN'T. do you have links to where I can watch it because if so I am all over that.
